2011 Dookie Letter

Dookie letter ‘11

Friends, Yinzers, Dookie-men, lend me your ears.  Listen to my cause, and be silent, so you can hear. Believe me based on my honor, and have
respect for my honor, so you can believe. Judge me in your wisdom, and wake up your senses, so you can be a better judge.

Now is the winter of our discontent made glorious summer by this tournament of champions.

The 2011 campaign will be JULY 9th- 11th and will feature a new bowling alley and a new venue for darts.  As usual, please show up by 6pm.  Bowling will be at Nesbit’s Lanes and darts will follow PROMPTLY at Kinloch Fire Hall.  We apologize for the travel in between events this year, but this was our best option.  Nesbit’s is BYOBeer or alcohol and we won’t be treated the way we were at Mildlife Lanes.  So, this year we will provide canned beer (the same as Saturday) but you must pay for any alcohol/food.

We anticipate starting darts around 9pm (though, the earlier the better), so friends/family can feel free to meet there if they don’t want to come to Nesbits.  There will be no changes to Saturday (if you choose not to stay at the Hare’s, please show up by 10am).  Golf will be on Sunday at 11am at Joke Lake.

In review, this past year saw Sean become conqueror for the first time (finally!), though it did continue the trend of either Marshall or Danny conquering the rest of us and getting their name on the trophy.  But, I come to bury the Mayor & Grandpa, not to praise them.  The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones.  So let it be with our Caesar’s.

Un be lieve ably, Stump has finished in 2nd place in golf for the last 4 years in a row!!  Marshall has won euchre for the last two years.  Sean’s streak at winning horseshoes was stopped by Marshall and Stumpy.  Petzel has won two of the last three years in darts.  Sean finally broke through his second place streak and won croquet.  And Marshall has won bowling the last two years in a row.

This year see’s a lot of interesting team matchups.  There are no given champs this year.  The events that are usually dominated by certain individuals are being challenged by two teammates that compliment each other and should contend.  The difference this year will be the teams that get the extra points for first place.  So, get better at what you’re good at and fake it in what you’re not.  Everyone’s got a shot this year.

Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.  Cowards die many times before their deaths, the Conquerors taste death but once.

THE RSVP THIS YEAR IS $175.  THIS MONEY IS DUE BY MAY 31ST.  PLEASE PAY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, WE ARE TRYING TO BUY A NEW CROQUET SET AND T-SHIRTS FOR THIS YEARS BATTLE.

                                         Beware the ides of July,
