2013 Dookie Letter

To those joined in the bond of Dookie brotherhood,
Good spring to yinz. Once again, it’s that time o’year. Our yearly ritual of renewal. The Dookie Tournament version fifteen. …fifteen years…incredible. There’s no reason to believe that something as awesome, inconsequential and adolescent as The Dookie would last a decade and a half. And, knowing us, there’s no reason to believe that it wouldn’t. Seeing it last another fifteen-plus is not beyond reasonable comprehension.
The Dookie 14 was fantastic, as usual. Congratulations belong to Danny Beiter & Tony Artoscos. For Danny, it’s a continuation of his dominance in this competition, winning three Dookie’s in a row (for the second time) and five out of the last six. It was Tony’s first cup.

Dookie Run’s” (trademark pending) are:

Rorge has won croquet two years running;

Rorge also returned to his winning ways in horseshoes (he had previously won shoes 3 years in a row, then finished 7th three years in a row);

Phat has won euchre for two consecutive years (after finishing 8th place in ’10);

Danny has won bowling for the second year in a row and four out of the last six;

Ray & Ryan had a clinical win in golf (recently our most competitive event)

Petzel’s absence was most notable in darts (he had won the last three dart events that he was in), so we hope to see him back.

Marshall & Rorge won darts in his absence, as one of their three events won. They were the first team ever to win 3 events and still fail to lift the cup.

Danny & Tony kept consistent in each event (3 second place finishes) while becoming only the third Conqueror to only win one event. Danny did it previously in ’02 and ’07.
We “Stanley-Cup’d” (trademark pending) our Dookie Mug, adding a plinth (Rorge loves this word) and engraving it with names of last years Conquerors.

Now it’s a real trophy.

We are in the process of purchasing new shirts in honor of our 15th anniversary, and it’s also in conjunction with us changing the format of this year’s competition. We will be buying two different shirt colors, and eight Dookie’s will get one shirt and the remaining will get the other color. We will then be instituting a “team” format, where there will be two teams of four partners. You will keep your partner for every event, and the team captains will be picking which partners will represent the team at each point in the event, ala a modified Ryder Cup. Every pair of partners will play in every event, and there will be 8 Dookie Champions in honor of 15 great years.
